Let’s have coffee or “Mankape Tako” in our local dialect. I saw this photo on a benguet group page at Facebook. It gave me a nostalgic feeling, of the past, on how simple things are. The Iron cup, the coconut shell used as bowl, and the sweet potatoes fresh from the garden. I immediately asked permission if i could use the photo as a reference from it’s owner Sir Bal Guisala. As soon as he replied yes. I made a canvas from a small stretcher bar laying in my studio for months. I’ve used impasto to create texture and give it a 3D effect, using palette knife and brushes.
