Kharen Tacmo is a fine artist based in UAE. She grew up in Quezon City where she lived with her parents and siblings. Since she was little she knew that art is a special part of her. She started joining on the spot drawing and painting competitions when she was 8, attended art schools, and painted for an art show when she was 11. At a young age, she developed her skills and became a part of a foundation that helps and educates children who have the same passion. She became an apprentice of 2 of the most renounce artists in the Philippines and that continues till she graduated High School. After her HighSchool graduation things became a bit tough, life became difficult for her family and her parents couldn’t afford expensive college fees with expensive art materials. Also, people around her always say that most artists starve and only those who stand out can make a living. She believes those lies and started to lose self-esteem. She got no option but to consider other courses because of her family’s financial situation. So, she entered Business School to pursue Management and got a job that she’s not happy doing. She became frustrated and lost her confidence in her art. She once felt that she wasn’t good enough, that she lacks so many skills for the industry, and taught that being an artist is not her destiny. A time came that she stopped creating art and focus herself on what she thinks is her destiny. Years later, she met a visionary artist on the internet who broke the curse. She inspires her more than anything. She ignited the artist inside her and couldn’t believe that it was there ever since. So, that’s when she immediately starts sketching again, painting again, practicing constantly, and even enrolled in art schools to learn new techniques, update and practice skills that she lost in the past during her darkest times. In the process, she was able to connect with the community of artists who empowers one another and this gave her so much motivation and inspiration. She realized that her art can touch other people’s hearts and lives. She realized that her art can change the world by speaking through it, by painting her voice through it and that she is an artist. She realized how much she loved painting and that’s what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Tacmo uses several mediums in her process and that includes inks, paint markers, charcoal, and acrylic. She loves experimenting with different mediums but her favorite is oil because it gives her painting movement and intriguing depth using color temperature. Her work finds to be dreamy looking, full of symbolism that makes it more interesting. She also likes poetry and music that sometimes play a big role in her art. Today, she is selling her Art Worldwide and Exhibiting Internationally.
