Erick Dator uses leaf-shaped pattern glued one by one into a board to create dimensional surface kind of paintings. It reminded us of the kiping, the leaf-shaped wafers which adorn houses during the Pahiyas Festival in his hometown of Lucban which was sorely missed due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Though the festival has passed, the colors of the Pahiyas goes on at Pahiyas Art. On second installment by Erick Dator at Pahiyas Art are new paintings depicting rural folks and scenes in the Philippines. Subjects of his paintings include farmers, flower vendors, horses, baskets and birds in bright and vibrant colors.
